Earlier in the week Sony Online Entertainment released the latest game update for PlanetSide 2. The biggest addition is the new "Lattice Link". Besides that there's a lot of new fixes, updates and additions they've thrown at us who are fighting on the side of a planet. Let's dive in and see what new toys they gave us.
The Lattice Link
With recent advances in technology, armed forces across Auraxis have developed the ability to more easily disrupt and manipulate the wireless communication and control protocols used by each of the Empires to take command of a base or facility. This has made the traditional methods for taking control of a region unreliable and potentially dangerous.
In order to maintain the integrity of their control protocols, the Empires have fallen back on an older system – a hard line network that physically connects bases and territories known as the Lattice Link.
While the hard line approach has been able to negate the recent security issues with using wireless technology, the Empires now require a friendly adjacent link to the Lattice in order to take control of an enemy installation.
To put this into layman's terms there now has to be a hard link between bases to capture them. This will in turn make it difficult for leaders and overall throw in a different form of gameplay. Now they're going to have to use more strategy when picking what bases to capture. Before it used to be a, "Ok you go here because it's far away from where the main fighting is and then just go wherever." While this was effective, it's not very "strategic" which is what SoE is hoping for with PlanetSide 2. Due to this randomness and chaos that can and does ensue during the war, they have made the Lattice Link and changed up the flow of battle.
Indar Battle Flow Improvements
LIke I said, they're going to attempt a different approach in the flow of battle. They're hoping that this "will improve the flow of battle significantly".
There's also way more than that too. Head over to the official post to see the rest of the updates for Indar Battle Flow
Instant Action Improvements
Sensitivity slider for aiming down sights (<4x scope)
