The biggest update to PlanetSide 2 by Sony Online Entertainment is on its way. They've given us even more huge updates coming to the game. Let's dive in and see what kind of content we can expect.
The Harasser Buggy
This is a brand new vehicle that's now come to the side of the planet. The "Harasser" is a light-armored vehicle, that's incredibly mobile and features three seats. Don't forget, this is an assault buggy. The best way to use this is ffor hit-and-run attacks. The top mounted gun moves 360 degrees. The rumble seat can hold any infantry class, including even a MAX. The fact that you can have a MAX in the back seat is insane and allows for a perfect anti-air setup. Drive in there as quick as you can and shoot everyone in the base up. Then take out the shields outside of the base with ease.
Each MAX will have a new set of AV weapons. This is for each empire specific MAX. These are going to compliment the existing MAX AV weapons. How's that going to work you ask? It'll going to give them a long range AV option. The current option turns it into a primarly DPS role in close range situations.
MAX's aren't done with yet. The new abilities are being held off until SoE has had some more time to make sure they're tuned properly. I don't fault them for this. When you take something's that a core part of the game and try to change the abilities, it's going to be pretty game changing . When it's ready, you can expect to see it on the Public Test Server.
There are two new helmets and one new set of armor for each empire's MAX. For people like me, this is exciting. I like looking unique alongside everyone else in my empire that's running in "the zerg".
Infantry are getting new helmets as well that have more of a "sci-fi" feel to them. I'm not going to lie, my Station Cash will be going for the Terran Republic one. (see below)
Balance and Tuning Changes
Pretty much, every Carbine, LMG, Assault Rifle and SMG will be touched somehow. That sounded dirty. Many of their attachments will be as well. That sounded dirtier. This is going to make sure that the weapon plays the role it's meant to, stopping the "I'm good for everything" mentality that some guns may have about themselves.
Armor for tanks is going to go up as well. So much that it's going to take 1-2 more rocket shots from infantry to take them down. This is a blessing and a curse. Really all depends on if you're inside or outside the tank. AP rounds for tanks, base turrets, The Dalton, the 30mm Tank Buster and Shredder LIberator weaopns have a new resistance type to bypass the armor buff. This will keep the same number of shots to destroy a tank as it does now.
Lets squash some bugs
There are more bugs than this that are going to be fixed. I mean come one, there always will be. But these are the highlights they've decided to go with.
