At Rock Paper Shotgun they're reporting that Hi-Rez Studios has made the decision to add map-making tools to Tribes: Ascend. Recently the CEO of Hi-Rez, Todd Harris stated that they wouldn't be updating Tribes: Ascend for the next six months at least in order to focus on SMITE and other titles. Therefore, this is a nice move to see from Hi-Rez that I'm sure the community will be glad to see. While there's no date on it, they're currently working on it and said they're hoping to release it within this six month period.
“The one thing we’re going to be working on next is a path for users to basically add their own maps,” Todd Harris stated to RPS. “We just feel like it’s at a good point to have users maintain it. We feel that it’s a complete experience, and we want to give users the tools to add their own maps – versus, say, us adding more guns that wouldn’t benefit [the experience].”
He continued stating that this is going to be the next big thing for Tribes: Ascend,
“Ideally [we'll release the map-making tools] in the next six months. But it’s a pretty fresh concept, so it doesn’t have a committed date yet. There’s a lot of ways we could go with it, as you can imagine. We just want to let people know that it’s the next thing for Tribes Ascend.”
